There's an opportunity this summer for kids to pick up a paycheck and learn life skills along the way.

The Muskingum County Opportunity Center received a $280,000 grant from the State of Ohio to employee those between the ages of 14-24. Those eligible will be paid minimum wage and work 25 hours a week. There are requirements to be eligible including meeting a set household income. The unstable economy is creating new trends in the workforce, and some of those changes can be seen in southeastern Ohio.

Employers are seeing a spike in the number of people lying on their resumes.

People looking for a new style left the Opportunity Center's 7th Annual Makeover Day with a bit more pep in their step.

Weed control has become a big issue in the City of Zanesville and now...City officials need your help.

The jobless numbers seem encouraging here in Muskingum County. Unemployment rates are down from March to April, but so is funding for a summer youth program through the Muskingum Opportunity Center .

Executive Director, Bob Mercer said it's designed to give hish-risk kids the motivation to graduate and prepare them for future careers. The program typically hires 200 kids, but due to less funding, only about 90 kids will be given the opportunity this year.

The number of people requesting unemployment benefits has plunged to a nearly three year low. Experts believe companies will increase the pace of hiring this year.
