It's happened again. Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says there has been a second case of someone impersonating a deputy.

Within the last week there have been two different cases in which an unmarked vehicle has stopped two different women. The Ross County Sheriff's Office reports that Andrew K. Burgoon has been arrested on the Felony Warrant out of Muskingum County.

Sheriff Lavender’s Office received an anonymous tip from a citizen that led deputies to an apartment in the 100 block of East Second Street.  Burgoon was taken into custody without incident and is being held at the Ross County Jail pending extradition to Muskingum

You may remember earlier this week when we told you about helicopter flyover in Muskingum county. It was for marijuana.

This time the Muskingum County and Zanesville Police Department Joint Drug Task Force, Central Ohio Drug Enforcement  and Ohio BCI  seized 170 marijuana plants and 30 pounds of processed marijuana.

The Joint Drug Unit of the Zanesville Police Department and the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office conducted a drug raid at a home on the east side of town.

It happened around 11:40 Thursday morning at 1329 Pallas Avenue. Police Chief Kenneth Miller said brothers John and Derek Jamison were charged with multiple counts of drug possesion and drug trafficking. They also were charged with multiple counts of having a weapon while under disability.

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz has identified the victim of a homicide which happened around 10:50PM last night at 6677 McCaslin road in Nashport.

Twenty five year old Brandy Daniels was discovered by her sister, Tess Payton, in her vehicle at the end of their driveway. Payton said her sister was on the way home from work and on the phone with her boyfriend when she turned onto the driveway and the call was dropped.

Deputies from the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office apprehended a thief Wednesday evening after he wrecked his vehicle and jumped into the canal to escape authorities.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office is getting ready for Halloween by checking on sex offenders and advising them not to give out candy. Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says there are 152 registered sex offenders in Muskingum County and says deputies are paying close attention to them.

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz confirmed on Friday that two search warrants were served at the Dairy Mart on Pine Street in Zanesville and at a residence in Roseville in connection to food stamp fraud.

Sheriff Lutz explained, "That was a joint investigation. Obviously of our drug unit in the city were the ones heading that up and working with some state officials on that investigation with food stamp fraud. So we're putting that together as we speak."

A suspect in a series of car break-ins taking place in the Buckeye Lake area is taken into custody in Muskingum County.

Captain Jeff LeCocq said Buckeye Lake Police chased 31-year-old Michael Slack into the county where sheriff's deputies joined in the pursuit.

The chase ended around 3:45 a.m. Friday when the suspect finally stopped on the Hamline Bridge.

Slack was taken into custody and given over to Buckeye Lake Police.

Officials from three different law enforcement agencies take part in a chase ending in Duncan Falls. 

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz said the incident started in South Zanesville during a traffic stop of a suspicious vehicle. The sheriff said when the black pickup truck failed to stop for police around 11:45 a.m.. authorities from his department joined in the pursuit.
