The Muskingum County Commissioners approve a proposal to place a levy on the November ballot that would fund the construction of a new jail..

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz warns people of standing water on roadways. 

He reported to us that many roads across the area are covered in water after a constant rain this week. Lutz urged drivers to be cautious when they come across high water on roads.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Department is continuing to investigate a break-in at Northside Pharmacy in Roseville that occurred after 4:00 a.m.

Sheriff Matt Lutz said they found evidence of a break-in and stolen prescription drugs. The pharmacy is working to determine what types and how much the suspect escaped with. Lutz said that this break in is consistent with a pattern of break-ins in the area.

 Human trafficking is a 10 billion dollar industry in the United States.

'Anchored for Justice' hosted a human trafficking awareness event today at Ohio University Zanesville. The day featured food, vendors, a mime performance, and speakers. The long Memorial Day holiday weekend is upon us and Muskingum County is doing its part to decrease the number of fatalities related to not buckling up.

The 'Click-it or Ticket' campaign aims to remind drivers of the seat belt laws that have been in effect for almost 30 years. Sheriff Matt Lutz, Lieutenant Matt Boyd, and community leaders gathered on broadcast hill today to talk about the campaign. Lutz said law enforcers are just trying to keep everyone safe.

Maysville High School students got a few minutes away from the classroom Monday to get a lesson of another kind.

That lesson being to avoid distracted driving. Two local volunteer fire departments and area law enforcement agencies set up a head on collision in the school's parking lot.
