It's happened again. Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says there has been a second case of someone impersonating a deputy.

Within the last week there have been two different cases in which an unmarked vehicle has stopped two different women. The Zanesville Muskingum County Health Department is holding a Drug Take Back Event.

It's Saturday, September 27 from 10AM to 2PM. Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says all expired or unused medication will be accepted.

"Our service provides anything that you bring in prescription pills wise we'll take, including the containers they come in, liquid, the DEA wont take and we'll also take sharps that can be disposed of."

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says a drug bust at 1620 Wheeling avenue Thursday morning was the culmination of an ongoing drug investigation.

A search warrant was served by the Sheriff's Office  Special Response Team around 10:30 a.m. . Six of the seven people in the home at the time of the raid were taken into custody for questioning, three males and three females.

With the Muskingum County Fair in full swing the Fair Board and Sheriffs Office are working hard to keep fair goers safe.

Sheriff Matt Lutz says that deputies will never be in the same spot very long. They will be driving around the fair grounds in golf carts, supervising events and patrolling the fairground around the clock. One local celebrity puckered up to a lovely milk maid Saturday to raise money for the Zanesville Civic League Community Center.

Family, friends, law enforcement and community members gathered today to remember the late Lieutenant Mike Lutz.

A ceremony was held at Cornerstone Church in Duncan Falls this morning followed by a procession to the gravesite of Lutz where a gun salute and a presentation of the colors was held to memorialize the Lieutenant.  Ohio's Attorney General reports that more than 16,000 new concealed carry licenses were issued within the first quarter of 2014.

These numbers are down by almost half from the 31,400 new permits issued within the first quarter of 2013. On the other hand, renewals are up significantly in Muskingum county.
