ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A Muskingum County Sheriff’s K-9 that suffered from heat exhaustion has made a full recovery and is back with his handler.

HOPEWELL, Ohio – A small church in western Muskingum County was vandalized Thursday night.

At 9 p.m. Thursday night the pastor and members of the congregation of the Macedonia United Methodist Church were alerted to vandalization at the small church in Hopewell. Broken liquor bottles were found surrounding the church and large rocks were thrown through windows.

UPDATE:  The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office reports that Mark Trussell has been located.

 

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office is on the lookout for this week's most wanted suspect.

53-year-old Mark Trussell is wanted for failure to register as a sexual offender. He's described as having brown hair and green eyes. He's 5'7 and 140 pounds. He has no known address.

If anyone knows of Trussell's whereabouts they're asked to contact the Muskingum County...

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz said the department is investigating a case of embezzlement in a local volunteer fire department.

The Falls Township Fire Department came to the Sheriff's Office in early February after recognizing the possible theft. Lutz said there is a primary suspect but detectives are still in early stages of the investigation.

Dispatcher Davis with the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office said a local teen last seen on Feb. 29 has been found. 

15-year-old Cronin resides in the Falls Township area and was last seen at her home. Karri Cronin announced the return of Kenzi on social media and thanked friends and family who helped in the search.

A total of $50,000 in methamphetamine was seized following a month long investigation into a meth operation supplying Muskingum, Licking, and Perry counties.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office, Zanesville Police Department, and the Central Ohio Drug Task Force seized the meth as well as $21,000, three firearms, and two vehicles. The bust marks the second in the last week where such large amounts of narcotics, money, and firearms were apprehended.

An accident Thursday morning on Interstate 70 is causing a traffic slow down. 

Around 2:25 am scanner traffic indicated a semi had rolled over on I-70 west near the Fieldhouse. 

The right lane of I-70 west will be closed as the semi is towed and clean-up begins by the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office is on the look out for a most wanted suspect.

59-year-old Paul David Dixon of Dresden is wanted on a felony warrant for domestic violence charges.

Dixon is described as being 6' tall and weighs 180 lbs.

He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Dixon also has multiple tattoos including several on his arms and hands.

According to the Ohio Department of Health, drug overdoses remain the leading cause of injury-related death in Ohio, surpassing car accidents in 2007. UPDATE* For clarification, the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office did learn that the three children had found a neighbor and were safe. The Sheriff's Office would simply like the public to know the truth about initial claims made about the incident, that were later rescinded by Wofter.
