A Muskingum County toddler is taken to the hospital after falling from a second story window.

It happened at 2926 Vista View Drive in Nashport around 8 p.m. Tuesday night. Witnesses on the scene say the child fell from a window, hitting the concrete below.

The child was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where his injuries are unknown at this time. The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office is investigating.

A bomb threat shuts down a South Zanesville store for several hours.

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz said the South Zanesville Wal-Mart received a phone call claiming a bomb was in the store. The call came in just before 2am on Saturday morning.

An auction held this weekend proved to be a success for the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office.

Items auctioned were seized and recovered during drug investigations the Sheriff's Office conducted over the past year. Deputies recovered everything from gold coins to four wheelers and even a 1967 Firebird convertible.

A Zanesville man was sentenced Monday to 10 years in prison on multiple drug charges.
 

32-year-old Jeremy Johnson-Fowler appeared before Muskingum County Common Pleas Judge Kelly Cottrill where he received a 3 year sentence on a charge of trafficking in crack cocaine and a 7 year sentence on charges of trafficking in cocaine and marijuana and possession of marijuana.

The pain at the pump could end up causing you a lot more pain than you bargained for. When the price is high, some people fill their tank and run -- without paying.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office has received numerous calls of drive off's at area gas stations. Sheriff Matt Lutz says in the first four months of 2011, they have had 58 drive off's compared to 63 last year during the same time.

Some Muskingum County Sheriff's Deputies are turning in their badges this week.

Lieutenant Randy Wilson, Sergeant Pat Keck and Deputy Roger Kelly are retiring from the department. A small party was held for them Friday afternoon highlighting their years of service. We spoke with Sergaent Pat Keck who has been with the Sheriff's Office the last 27 years. He says it's been an amazing experience serving Muskingum County.

A woman was shot in the head Wednesday night during a dispute in Muskingum County.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. at 3900 Hemmers Lane in Wayne Township. Sheriff Matt Lutz says several family members were at the residence when the victim was shot by her step-brother following an argument.

"Our deputies got here on the scene, there was some people that had the victim out of the residence. At that point the suspect was still in the residence," he says.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office raided a Zanesville home Thursday evening searching for drugs. They discovered a marijuana growing operation.

Sheriff Matt Lutz says the raid was the result of an on-going investigation into the home at 1015 Ohio Street.

The closing of the northbound lanes of Northpointe Drive in Muskingum County due to a slip is not only a headache for drivers, it has now become a safety concern.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office has received many complaints from drivers in the southbound lane saying northbound drivers are ignoring the closure where the slip occurred and are using the southbound lane causing near accidents with drivers. The Muskingum County Commissioners Thursday passed a resolution allowing the Sheriff's office to lease five new cruisers for deputies this year.

This is the third year the commissioners have leased the vehicles. Before, the county bought used Highway Patrol cruisers from the state. The commissioners decided leasing Ford Crown Victorias was the better decision in the long term becasue of longevity and cost.
