A woman was shot in the head Wednesday night during a dispute in Muskingum County.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. at 3900 Hemmers Lane in Wayne Township. Sheriff Matt Lutz says several family members were at the residence when the victim was shot by her step-brother following an argument.

"Our deputies got here on the scene, there was some people that had the victim out of the residence. At that point the suspect was still in the residence," he says.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office raided a Zanesville home Thursday evening searching for drugs. They discovered a marijuana growing operation.

Sheriff Matt Lutz says the raid was the result of an on-going investigation into the home at 1015 Ohio Street.

In the upstairs of the home there were two growing rooms filled with marijuana.

The closing of the northbound lanes of Northpointe Drive in Muskingum County due to a slip is not only a headache for drivers, it has now become a safety concern.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office has received many complaints from drivers in the southbound lane saying northbound drivers are ignoring the closure where the slip occurred and are using the southbound lane causing near accidents with drivers. The Muskingum County Commissioners Thursday passed a resolution allowing the Sheriff's office to lease five new cruisers for deputies this year.

This is the third year the commissioners have leased the vehicles. Before, the county bought used Highway Patrol cruisers from the state. The commissioners decided leasing Ford Crown Victorias was the better decision in the long term becasue of longevity and cost.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office is on the search for this week's most wanted suspect.

20-year-old Dylan J. Marshall is wanted for cultivation of marijuana, two counts of possession of drugs and possession of criminal tools.

Marshall weighs 170lbs and is 6'2 with brown eyes and hair. His last known address is 2945 Linden Avenue in Zanesville.

A teenager was taken to a Columbus hospital following an ATV crash around 7 p.m. Monday night off Ford Road.

According to Sgt. Pat Keck with the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office, a brother and sister were riding an ATV on private property when they hit a hole and were thrown from the vehicle. The 17-year-old boy was thrown into an electrical fence.

32-year-old Jeremy Johnson-Fowler of Zanesville appeared in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court Wednesday and pled guilty to multiple drug charges including trafficking in marijuana, cocaine and crack.

Johnson-Fowler was arrested in December after a warrant sweep by the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office.

Judge Kelly Cottrill ordered a pre-sentence investigation. Johnson-Fowler remains in the Muskingum County Jail.

At least one person is in custody after an early morning robbery at a local restaurant.

According to a report from the Muskingum County Sheriffs' Office around 3:30 Thursday morning a male wearing a jacket and jeans with a gray beard robbed the Denny's at the Airport exit.

A witness said she smashed his hand in the door before he left in a red maroon car. The vehicle carrying two people was pulled over a short time later on Downing Drive.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect in a grand theft investigation.

According to Detective Steve Welker on Friday December 3rd at around 2 p.m. a woman stole $500 from a purse in the Wal-Mart parking lot on the Maysville Pike.

Welker says the suspect was in a dark colored SUV, possibly a Nissan 4-Runner.
