Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says after a long term investigation his deputies raided two homes on Bailey Street in connection to drugs.

A Zanesville man is sentenced for his role in connection to a drug case.

29-year-old Codey Starkey was sentenced to eight years in prison for one count each of possession of cocaine, heroin, Lorazepam, Vicodin and having a weapon while under disability.

Judge Kelly Cottrill ordered Starkey to also forfeit his weapons and be placed on post release control for three years once his jail time is served.

A Zanesville man charged in connection to a drug bust in July of this year enters a guilty plea in court.

34-year-old Jason Tate plead guilty in Muskingum Common Pleas Court to one count of possession of cocaine, one count of possession of heroin, possession of Lorazepam and having a weapon under disability. Six other charges will be dropped at sentencing.

The Ohio Attorney General's Office says the number of concealed carry permits have soared over the past year.

Officials say a record breaking, 82,000 permits have been issued from this year through the end of September. This is significantly higher than all of last year and according to Sheriff Matt Lutz, the same goes for Muskingum County.

There's frustration for Maysville School District officials as another bomb threat takes students out of class.

Superintendent Monte Bainter said that around 8:15 a.m. Thursday morning was found written on the second floor bathroom wall of the middle school. Sheriff's deputies swept the building. Both the high school students and middle school were evacuated.
