The Muskingum County Health Department will be offering free flu shots for Muskingum County residents on Thursday, October 7th at four locations.

Muskingum County Fairgrounds: 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Ohio University Zanesville/ Zane State @ Campus Center: 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Dresden Fire Department: 1 - 5 p.m.

Muskingum University is also hosting a clinic for students and faculty.

More than 900 employees who use Muskingum County insurance will see changes come this January.

Commissioner Brian Hill met with county employees Monday night at the Center for Seniors. In 2011 the county is considering offering three plan options. Employees' current plan will be available as the "gold" plan and the high-deductible Health Savings Account will also still be available. The county may also offer a third plan they are calling a "silver" plan....

September is nationally recognized as Senior Citizens Month.

Various activities are taking place all week long at the Muskingum County Center For Seniors including an art show for members to display their work.

Some Muskingum County Residents will be without water Tuesday due to a water valve replacement project.

The Muskingum County Water Department says work will begin at 9 a.m until the job is completed.

The following areas will be affected: Grove Road going east to Dale Road, all of Garden Road, all of Dale Road, Field Drive and East Military Road.

The Zanesville Muskingum County Health Department reports a bat found in Muskingum County has tested positive for rabies.

The bat was found last week in Falls Townsihp.

Officials say a person did come in contact with the bat and is currently receiving a series of rabies shots.

 This is the first time rabies has been identified in a bat in Muskingum County since August of 2009 .

The Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency is updating it's Disaster Preparedness Plan.

Two meetings will be held for the public to review the plan before it is submitted to the government, which is updated every five years.

Muskingum County residents are able to get a gallon of water for the cost of one penny.

The County Water Department installed a bulk water station at 375 Richards Road.

"It's a top-fill machine. It's easy access in and out. This is our second one in Muskingum County. We're looking at possibly two other locations, " says Commissioner Jerry Lavy.
