A major bridge in Muskingum County that's currently undergoing repairs is expected to remain closed for the next 14 to 21 days.

The Philo Duncan Falls Bridge located at Lock and Dam #9 closed to traffic on Tuesday, October 14. The bridge typically sees about 1,200 to 1,300 cars each day. Robert Heady, Design Engineer for the Muskingum County Engineers Office told us about the repairs the bridge has been needing.

The weather outside is far from frightfull, but it won't be that way come December.

The Zansville and Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce is already gearing up for the holiday season. A new event called a Storybook Christmas is happening across the county this winter. The United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan counties is having a Campaign Kick-off week. Events start Monday September 15 with a Take Control of Your Credit Score! event.

The Wilds in Muskingum County has welcomed  a new addition to its endangered Rhino herd.

The Wilds announced Wednesday that a greater one-horned Asian rhinoceros, also known as an Indian rhino, was born out in pasture with the rest of the herd on August 30th.

It's the sixth one-horned rhino born at the Wilds.

Born after a gestation of nearly 16 months, one-horned rhinos can grow to be 4,800 pounds and six feet tall at the shoulder.

Muskingum County's juvenile and probate courtroom was filled to capacity Tuesday evening as supporters turned out to watch Eric Martin be sworn in as judge.

Martin was appointed by Ohio Governor John Kasich to replace Judge Joseph Gormley who retired from the bench. With his wife by his side, Martin took the oath. It's a position he says he's excited about and a responsibility he doesn't take lightly.

A 265 thousand dollar "Strong Families, Safe Communities" Grant has been awarded from the State of Ohio to Muskingum, Guernsey, Coshocton and Perry Counties.

The Ohio Departments of Mental Health and Addiction Services along with the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities announced the grant this afternoon at the John McIntire Library. Dan Carpenetti, from Tompkins Treatment Inc. described what the grant money would be used for across the four counties.

The Ohio Department of Health has identified the state's first two human cases of West Nile Virus this year -- one of them right here in Muskingum County.

A 24-year-old Muskingum County woman was hospitalized with Encephalitis.  The other case involves a 78-year-old Cuyahoga County woman.  If you've been outdoors in an area where mosquitoes could be prevalent, Epidemiologist Kristen Baker said there are certain symptoms to look out for.

Muskingum County will soon have a new candidate for county commissioner.

Once the proper paperwork is filed later this week, Linda Regula is slated to replace Grant Hutcheson as the Democratic nominee to face off against incumbent Republican Jim Porter this fall.

Day two of the annual Stars and Stripes on the River event kicked off Friday afternoon.

Visitors can expect food, drinks, a live band, activities and a fireworks display which began at 9:45PM. All of the funds raised support local non profit organizations. One local group in particular, Christ's Table, will be selling Lemon Shake Ups to raise money for the hungry in Muskingum County.

In all-star games there is no sure way to predict what is going to happen. A group of players on the field together for the first time, it will be a test of will and skill.

Muskingum County head coach Chad Grandstaff and his squad are in the final stages of preparing for Friday night's game at White Field. The Muskingum County team lost a season ago and this year's group of seniors are looking to avenge that loss....
