In Muskingum County two major levy's on the ballot passed.

The Zanesville-Muskingum County Health District's 1mill levy for 10 years passes 21,722 to 13,131. The Muskingum County Mental Health Recover 1mill levy for ten years passed 21,092 to 13,747.

Failing was the West Muskingum School District Emergency levy for 5.9mills for five years. It failed with 2,829 votes for and 3,549 votes against.

A sewer line running under the old Muskingum County Home property on Newark road was the cause of a heated discussion between the city and county Monday.

According to Zanesville Mayor Jeff Tilton, since 1996 the old County Home property has been a city sewer customer, but it's unclear which entity installed the line and how it came about. The county thinks the line may belong to them, giving them a reason to take a second look at the Joint Economic Development District [JEDD]...

Timber sales at Blue Rock State Forest net over $42,000 in profit for Muskingum County.

The money will be split between the county, Blue Rock and Salt Creek Townships as well as Franklin Local School District. The Timber sales occurred between July of 2011 and June of 2012. The money comes from the Division of Forestry "Trees to Textbooks" program.

Mitt Romney's tour bus made a stop in Zanesville Saturday for the grand opening of the Muskingum County Republican Party headquarters.

GOP Candidates and volunteers came to the ribbon cutting on Maple Avenue.

President Obama has declared Muskingum County and 36 other counties in Ohio as major disaster areas after the June 29th severe storms.

Muskingum County EMA Director Bo Keck said the money will be made available to the county as well as cities and villages, but not to the general public.

Keck believed the money will help many local governments struggling to pay bills, offset the costs of the damages and clean up.

The Muskingum Valley and Licking County All-Star Game is set for Friday, July 20th in Newark at Historic White Field.  Kickoff time is 7:00 and you can listen to the game live on Z-92 beginning with pre-game coverage about 15 minutes before kickoff.  The game will also re-air on WHIZ-TV on Saturday afternoon at 3:00.

Some bridges in Muskingum County will be getting a overhaul this construction season.

On Monday, Matt Russell, from the Muskingum County Engineers Office spoke to Commissioners on two major bridge improvement plans.

The most expensive plan calls for a replacement of the Roseville Bridge on Main Street, costing an estimated 1.5 million dollars.

Friday marked the second monthly meeting of the newly-created Shale Task Force of Muskingum County.

The task force was created to keep county government officials and the general public informed about new shale drilling projects in the county.

Tourism typically stalls during the winter months, but Muskingum County continues to welcome visitors even as the weather gets colder.
