The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office updated two domestic dispute cases from last week on Monday.

The first took place on April 25th at 1530 Richvale Road in Muskingum Township. Sheriff Matt Lutz says deputies originally went over to the residence to serve a warrant to 60-year-old John Allen, but upon arrival discovered that he was arguing with his wife.

Local officials are working to combat prescription drug abuse here in Muskingum County.

As a part of a national effort, the DEA teamed up with several area agencies on Saturday including the Sheriff's Office to collect and properly dispose of any unused or unwanted prescription medications.

Muskingum County is seeking funding for top priority projects.

The Transportation Improvement District's Board held a meeting Wednesday morning. Muskingum County and Zanesville Officials gathered to create a list of projects that may qualify for state funding.

Looking for a job can be challenging, but the Muskingum County Opportunity Center has a few resources that might make it a little easier.

The center provides help with interviewing tips, creating resumes, and filling out applications, all of which are offered for free to the public. Executive Director Bob Mercer said a lot of people claim there are no jobs out there and that's just not true.

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz is reporting Wednesday morning that a missing Muskingum County woman has been found.  The Sheriff says she told deputies she was not sure why she was reported as missing.  Mae Isch said she was staying with some friends. She was reporting missing by family members on April 10th and was last seen at her home on Ellis Dam Road on April 3rd.

Statistics show that nearly 44 million adults in the United States are unable to read a simple story to their children and the Muskingum County Literacy Council is hoping to change that.

They passed out free childrens books on Saturday and Sunday at the health fair at the Colony Square Mall.

Tuesday at noon, the Emergency Management Agency will be testing tornado sirens around Muskingum County.

EMA Director Bo Keck said they will test all 40 sirens so the public can become familiar with the sound and to also make sure they are functioning properly.

With a shrinking budget, Muskingum County Commissioners are continuing to find ways to not only save money, but make some too.

Governor John Kasich's budget cuts are not only affecting state agencies, but also those at the local level.

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says funding was cut by 25% to the county. He said while the commissioners prepared, it's still going to affect operations at the jail.
