The Muskingum Family "Y" is kicking off its 2013 Strong Kids Campaign with several fundraisers.

The campaign will run from February 13th through March 29th. It begins with a box lunch fundraiser at Honeybaked Ham on Maple Avenue. For each lunch ordered before February 18th, Honeybaked Ham will contribute two dollars to the campaign. Runners laced up their tennis shoes and hit the pavement for a good cause.

On Saturday the Muskingum Family YMCA held the Zaney Reindeer 5K Run and 1 mile Fun Run/Walk at Vista Golf Course in Nashport.  Executive Director Craig Miracle said about 50 runners and walkers took advantage of the mild December day.

Temperatures are expected to hit the nineties this weekend which means it is a perfect time to hit the pool.

The Muskingum Family "Y" on Adams Lane in Zanesville offers a great way to beat the heat.

Executive Director Craig Miracle offers tips for swimmers to have a safe and enjoyable weekend.

"We encourage people to bring sunscreen and plenty of water to drink and make sure they're re-applying the sunscreen and enjoying the pool, " said Miracle.

With the end of school year fast approaching, the Muskingum Family YMCA is gearing up for summer activities.

The pool on Adams Lane opens to the public Saturday, June 2nd.

Executive Director, Craig Miracle said maintenance crews have been working since March painting, and purchasing chemicals.

In addition to maintenance, Miracle said The Y will be working to provide more swimming lessons than in years past.

After years of planning and fundraising, financial plans for the Muskingum Recreation Center are
ready to be finalized.

Muskingum County Community Foundation Executive Director David Mitzel updated members of the Zanesville Noon Rotary Club about the plans, which he said have been in the works for over 5 years.

It's national "Make a Difference Day" and residents across Southeast Ohio are doing just that.

Another scorching summer day has kids cooling off with a dip in the pool.

Despite temperatures in the 90s, kids are enjoying their last few weeks of vacation at the Muskingum Family YMCA.
