Zanesville grad Jake Phillis had a night to remember for the Otterbein Cardinals in New Concord. The junior poured in a career-high 31 points on 9-of-22 shooting to propel Otterbein past Muskingum, 93-89, in double overtime. The point guard also knocked down six three-pointers and tallied five steals to engineer the come-from-behind victory.

Otterbein 17 - Muskingum 13

Muskingum, now losers of three straight, opened strong against the Cardinals, a team they had lost to seven consecutive times.  The Fish forced a fumble and interception in the...

Michigan State 10 - Ohio State 7

Zanesville native and Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio can finally say he's beaten Ohio State.  In four previous attempts, the former Buckeye defensive coordinator was unable to pick up a victory.

Saturday, in the Horseshoe, his Spartans were the better team.  Michigan State recorded 9 sacks, completely shutting down Ohio State's offense on the way to a 10-7 win in each team's Big Ten opener.

It's Michigan...

Akron 0 - #18 Ohio State 42

(COLUMBUS) -- There were plenty of reasons for the Ohio State football team to be nervous coming into the opener against Akron. On top of suspensions, including three more released on Thursday, it was the first game with Luke Fickell at the helm.

It was also the first start for quarterback Joe Bauserman since his senior year of high school...eight years ago. The 26-year-old didn't fold under the pressure, totaling four touchdowns,...
