Whether it be competing for first or taking a class, the Muskingum Rec Center is offering many ways to stay fit this fall.

The Rec Center is hosting a one mile swim race on November 22. It is having the race to raise money to purchase ADA approved steps for the lap pool. Susan Bowen, the Aquatic and Sport Manager at the Rec Center said the stairs will allow people to easily get into the pool.

When the Muskingum Recreation Center first opened to the public last Monday, there was still something missing. But as of Saturday morning, that is not the case.

The pools are now filled and ready for swimmers. At 7 a.m., the doors officially opened on the new eight lane swimming pool and the wheelchair accessible activity pool. Members of the Genesis Lifestyle and Fitness Center met with the Muskingum County Commissioners to discuss the transition into their new facility.

The Muskingum Recreation Center on the OUZ- Zane State campus is expected to open for current members of the Genesis Lifestyle and Fitness Center near the end of March and for the general public in early April. Organizers are changing their corporate and regular memberships options to reflect changes to the facility.

Ohio University-Zanesville and its partners are moving ahead with plans for a recreation center and want your input.

The University already hosted one community input meeting on the new facility and will be holding another meeting next week to hear what residents have to say. Most have already expressed a great interest in having an indoor public pool tailored to fit everyone's needs.

An open house was held at Ohio University-Zanesville to get input from the public on the proposed new Muskingum Rec Center.

Williams Architects, a Chicago based firm has been chosen to design the new 10 million dollar facility and Wednesday, the public was invited out to give their ideas and input on what they want from the center.

Ohio University-Zanesville announced a major milestone in their efforts to build a new recreation center Tuesday.

Thanks to many donors, partners, and community members, the Muskingum County Community Foundation has exceeded their goal of raising 5 million dollars towards the new facility, half of what it will cost. The campaign kicked off mid November of last year with a big jump start.

Some exciting news for the new Muskingum Rec Center coming to Ohio University Zanesville.

The Rec Center board has chosen Chicago based Williams Architects to design the facility. OU-Z Dean Dr. Jim Fonseca says the decision was made after interviewing several other firms and decided williams would be the best fit for OU-Z.
