The Muskingum Soil and Water Conservation District met with County Commissioners Monday.

The purpose was to submit their preliminary budget for 2016 and discuss highlights of upcoming events and things being worked on. We had the chance to talk to Lisa Crock, Administrator for the Soil and Water Conservation District who gave us an overview of some of the highlights.

The Muskingum Soil and Water Conservation District met with the County Commissioners on Thursday to discuss their annual budget.

The district meets with the commissioners twice a year to give them an update on expenses and newly implemented programs. Local students got a chance to have an interactive experience with wild life Friday.

The supervisor board for the Muskingum Soil and Water Conservation District  presented their budget to the Muskingum County Commissioners on Thursday and discussed everything from salaries to travel and how it compares to last year. One of the biggest changes in the budget is travel. With the rise in gas prices, they needed to adjust that number.

Several outdoor enthusiasts hitched up their ATVs for a tour presented by the Muskingum Soil and Water Conservation District.

Kids are exploring the outdoors and learning the importance of conserving our natural resources.

Kids are learning what to do in case of an outdoor emergency this summer.

The Muskingum Soil and Water Conservation District hosted Kids Farm Safety Day at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds.  District Technician Kylene Newman said campers were grouped with counselors as they rotated through different stations.

It's no secret that money is tight in Muskingum County, but agencies continue to work with the commissioners to make ends meet.

Representatives from the Muskingum Soil and Water Conservation District discussed its 2013 preliminary budget.  Administrator Lisa Crock said it's getting tougher to cut costs.
