After receiving a bomb threat at their university on Thursday Muskingum students spoke out about their experiences.

At approximately 12:45 p.m. Muskingum University in New Concord received a phone call on their 1-800 number saying that there was a bomb on the campus. Although there was no bomb found, officials from the school and local emergency agencies immediately responded by making sure the campus was vacated before closing the school down for the day.

Muskingum University in New Concord was evacuated and closed on Thursday after a bomb threat.

Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency Director Bo Keck says that at around 12:45 p.m. the school received a bomb threat via the university's 1-800 number. Officials asked all students, faculty and visitors to vacate the premises in order to facilitate a campus wide investigation.

Muskingum University  received an anonymous telephone call today (Thursday, Nov. 21) reporting that a bomb was located somewhere on the campus. The University has taken steps to evacuate. Students, staff and faculty were instructed to leave campus or to assemble at a designated off-campus site.

The University is working with Muskingum University Police, the Muskingum County Sheriff's office, and New Concord Police and Fire Departments.

Last Saturday, Muskingum freshman defensive back Dominick Williams took a punt return 74 yards for a touchdown against Heidelberg. The Muskies went on to lose the game 49-21, but Williams' play became an overnight sensation on the internet. The Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra rehearsed for their opening concert at Muskingum University on Saturday.

Muskingum University is adding a new University Center to campus and construction starts next month.

On Wednesday, Muskingum University President Dr. Anne Steele announced that the University Center, which is the new home of the university's library and teacher preparation program, will be a 40,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility built around the university's former library. The Muskingum men's soccer team and women's volleyball team both picked up victories on their home turf Wednesday night in New Concord.

The volleyball team, led by Dr. Elizabeth Zicha, is off to a perfect 5-0 start after defeating Ohio Wesleyan Wednesday. The Lady Muskies got down early by losing the first set, but came back strong and won the last three 25-21, 25-16, 25-20.
