The annual Veterans Day parade is this weekend, but there is something new this year.

After the parade there will be a movie showing at the John McIntire Library. Honor Flight tells the story of veterans making the journey to Washington D.C. To pay tribute to their war memorial. The Muskingum Valley New Tech Academy's U.S. government class is helping to put the movie on. Senior Neal Edwards spoke with us about what it means to show the movie.

Three times a year, freshman, sophomores and juniors at New Tech Academy meet with "community partners," who are people from around the area that act as mentors to students, helping them with with recommendations and giving them advice. Students spent the morning meeting with their community partners to work on vision boards and set three goals they want to accomplish. For freshman Tianna Sipia, her focus is graduating with good grades and possibly attending law school..

At Tuesday's noon Rotary meeting, Dr. Jocelyn Cosgrave of Zanesville High School's Muskingum Valley New Tech Academy talked about the programs' first year in review and what they have planned for the future.

Summer vacation is coming to a close and Wednesday many students will head back to Zanesville High School.

Tuesday teachers and staff were busy getting their classrooms ready to go while others took part in professional development programs.

Current 8th and 9th grade students are being recruited for a new opportunity at Zanesville High School.

Muskingum Valley New Tech Academy is a program designed to prepare students for college and the workforce.  Principal Jocelyn Cosgrave said it will be part of the existing Zanesville High School, and the courses will be taught by a cohort of Zanesville teachers.
