COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Drew Rackley has been named the most outstanding player of the Associated Press Division II all-tournament team after leading New Concord John Glenn to its first state championship.

Rackley scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Little Muskies beat Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary 76-72 Saturday. He had 22 points in a semifinal victory Thursday.

The John Glenn Muskies have lived up to expectations all season long.

Saturday afternoon at the Schottenstein Center was no exception.

The Muskies seldom trailed perennial power St. Vincent-St. Mary and held on to win the first state title in program history, 76-72.

Senior guard Drew Rackley led the way for John Glenn with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Rackley was named the tournament MVP for his efforts, joined on the all-tournament team by teammate Matt Weir.

Senior guard Drew Rackley finished with 56 combined points in two regional games last week, including 31 in the regional final against DeSales.

The best senior hoopers of Muskingum Valley faced off with the best of Licking County in the annual Muskingum Valley- Licking All-Star game. On the girls side, Muskingum Valley won 89-64 lead by Maysville Big Cat Kori Sidwell with 18 points. Licking won the boys game 110-96 behind 28 points from Licking Heights senior Austin Dulaney.

 Ohio State redshirt senior and Maysville grad JC Murasky finished third in the shot put this afternoon at the indoor track and field championships. The senior's best throw was 20.03m.

In addition to his third place finish, Murasky was also named an All-American.  Murasky was also named an All-American in 2015, becoming the first athlete to win the honor in back-to-back seasons since Dan Taylor in 2003-04

Philo Middle School teacher and former varsity soccer coach Matt Brown passed away Sunday after a battle with throat cancer.

Brown served 10 seasons as Philo's head coach and was named MVL Coach of the Year in 2014.
