In the spirit of giving, one local business is teaming up with a nationally known NBA star to bring Christmas to families in need.

An NBA Star and Zanesville native is giving back to the community in a big way.

Kevin Martin of the Minnesota Timberwolves held his annual wrapping party Tuesday evening. 10 area families in need are chosen and gifts are then bought and wrapped for the members of those families by area students and friends and family of Martin. Zanesville grad and Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin is out indefinitely with a fractured wrist, the team announced today.

Ironically, the 34-year-old turned in one of the best performances of his career after sustaining the injury to the wrist of his shooting hand in Minnesota's 115-99 win over the Knicks on Wednesday.

Zanesville native Kevin Martin has been through contract negotiations before but for the first time it wasn't to resign with his current team. The former Blue Devil became a free agent Monday and now has a new home according to multiple reports.

Minnesota has agreed to a four year contract with Martin worth between 28 and 30 million dollars. The terms of the deal have not been released officially but Martin would be making close to seven million dollars annually.

An NBA legend spoke to hundreds of high school students from across the state.

Jerry Lucas spoke to an audience of 600 future educators who gathered at Muskingum University for the annual State Conference of the Future Educators Association of Ohio.
