The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a one car rollover accident Monday afternoon.

It happened shortly before 3:00 p.m. just east of Chandlersville at the intersection of 146 west and Watson Road. According to the highway patrol, a man in his early 60s was heading east on 146 when he veered off the right side of the road and struck a culvert. That impact caused his Toyota RAV4 to roll onto the passenger side and land upright on the opposite side of Watson Road.

 A family in New Concord is chased from their home after a fire break out,

Three people who rent the home at 212 West Main Street got out safely Wednesday night. The New Concord Fire Department said they got the call around 10:30 p.m.

"We got there and there was significant fire on the first floor, crews made entry extinguished the fire and ensured that no one else was in the home," said Captain, Matthew Hamsher of the New Concord Fire Department.

Muskingum County Firefighters said a final goodbye to one of their own today. Rick Hunt, a 31 year Veteran lost his battle with cancer this week.

Hunt was a firefighter, fire investigator and EMS for for many local fire departments in Ohio. A salute and formal procession was held in his honor. Every year, a select few fire service members, across the state of Ohio, are honored for their outstanding accomplishments in firefighting.

The individuals recognized by the Ohio Fire Service Hall of Fame, received Ohio's highest firefighting honors. For 2013, The Instructor of the Year was New Concord Fire Chief, Brent Gates, who was humbled by the award.

A fire engulfed a home late Saturday night completely destroying the structure.

New Concord Fire Department was first on the scene and say that they received a call from a witness who noticed smoke coming from the home on the 10000 Block of Coshocton Road. They arrived at approximately 9:30 p.m. and firefighters say no one was injured and that  the family was on vacation in Virginia Beach at the time of the blaze.

One of the oldest homes in New Concord erupted in fire around noon Monday. It happened at 68 West Main Street.

New Concord Assistant Fire Chief Troy Cole says no one was hurt in the blaze and only one person was home. Crews from New Concord, Cassell Station, Perry Township and Falls Township, responded to the fire and took about 10 minutes to get it contained. The cause remains under investigation, but fire investigators say it appears to have started on the first floor.

The Village of New Concord had some problems Wednesday after a barn fire cut service to 9-1-1 and thousands of cell phones.

New Concord Fire Chief Brent Gates said the early morning fire happened at 3739 Glenn Highway Along U-S 40 in Guernsey County. The fire burned through the main trunk line of phone lines.

As a result anyone with an 826 exchange was not able to call long distance, outside the village or 9-1-1. Also cell service was down to all providers, except Verizon....

9-1-1 service is out to residents of New Concord.

New Concord Fire Chief Brent Gates said Thursday morning that there was a barn fire in Guernsey County that burned through the main trunk line of phone line.

As a result anyone with an 826 exchange cannot call long distance, outside the village or 9-1-1. Also cell service is down to all providers, except Verizon.

Friends and Family gathered to say goodbye to a former Fire Chief in New Concord on Friday.

Richard King Cole, Sr. passed away Monday at OSU Medical Center in Columbus after a battle with cancer.
The former Fire Chief served in the Ohio National Guard, and was also a former town council member and Boy Scout leader.
