Shortly after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night, scanner traffic indicated there was a structure fire in the 200 block of West Main Street in New Concord.  

Multiple fire departments responded, and ODOT and AEP were also requested to the scene. State Route 83 was shut down at the intersection of Main Street and at the exit ramp from Interstate 70.

We'll have more information as it becomes available.

An over $184,000 project is set to take place in the Village of New Concord on Monday. 

The Ohio Department of Transportation said work includes new sidewalks, crosswalks and curb ramps, as well as upgrades to intersections on various village streets.

Work is being done by Buds Incorporated. 

The project is expected to be completed by July 1, 2015, weather permitting.

The New Concord Water Department said it plans to flush hydrants on Tuesday, March 25 from 8am to 3 pm, weather permitting.

Customers throughout the Village may experience discolored water during that time, and are urged to not do laundry until the water clears.

Anyone with questions should contact the water deparment.

Water service for some New Concord customers has been disrupted due to a water main break.

The Water Department has issued a boil advisory for customers in the following areas:

  • North Liberty Street north of Paden Drive
  • All customers in Meadow Wood and Sunrise Acres subdivisions including the following streets: Buckeye Drive, Hawthorn Drive, Mulberry Lane, Ash Circle, Fern Ridge Circle, Lowery Lane, Paden Road and Eastview Drive

Water Service for some New Concord customers has been disrupted due to a main break.

A boil advisory has been issued for customers on Hillcrest Drive and North Friendship Drive from McCalls Lane to John Glenn School Road until further notice.

Customers are advised to boil all water used for drinking and cooking. Customers may experience low pressure or discolored water and should not do laundry until the water clears.

Muskingum University in New Concord was evacuated and closed on Thursday after a bomb threat.

Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency Director Bo Keck says that at around 12:45 p.m. the school received a bomb threat via the university's 1-800 number. Officials asked all students, faculty and visitors to vacate the premises in order to facilitate a campus wide investigation.

Come this spring, one corner in the heart of New Concord, will have a brand new look, once The Community Commons is completed.

The Champion Cheer Central Regional Competition was held at John Glenn High School today. There were over 80 cheerleading, dance and all-star teams who competed in hopes of making it to the state level.
