A teacher facing charges of sexual battery goes before the court.

A hearing took place Tuesday for 32-year-old Anthony Miller, of Westerville. Newark Police said detectives arrested the teacher for having sexual relations with a student at Newark High School while working as an assistant band director .

In Licking County Court a judge set bond at $75,000. A preliminary hearing is set for March 6.

An up to $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in a Newark home burglary. 

The Newark Police reported that on January 14 a suspect or suspects broke into an apartment in the 1300 block of Countryside Drive and stole electronics and jewelry. Anyone with information should contact the Licking County Crime Stoppers at (740) 349-6888.

The Licking County Crime Stoppers offer a cash reward for information that leads to the arrest of two juveniles.

The Newark Police Department reports 16-year-old Matt Mallassee and 15-year-old Jordan Frazier are each wanted on a probation warrant and may be in the company of one another.

Mallassee is 5'6 135lbs with brown hair and blue eyes. Frazier is 5'9, 145lbs with brown hair and blue eyes.

Newark Police are looking into vandalism of a Newark home.

Authorities said July 10, suspects broke into the home on North Williams Street and did damage to the interior of the house. Witnesses describe the suspects as two black males.
