The Licking County Crime Stoppers needs the public's help in solving an aggravated robbery in Newark, and it's offering up to a $1,000 reward for anyone with information on the matter.

Licking County Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information on an armed robbery at a Newark restaurant.

Newark Police report that on May 23 around 9:50 a.m. a male suspect robbed the Subway on North 21st Street.

Police say the suspect brandished a large revolver type handgun and demanded money from the two female clerks.

The suspect fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.

Two people have been arrested in connection to a break in at a church in Newark.

According to the Licking County Sheriff's Office , 24-year-old Melissa Barton and 54-year-old Richard Hunt of Newark are in custody after admitting to breaking into the Marne United Methodist Church on Licking Valley Road on May 7th.

Authorities say the two also admitted to stealing a safe from the church that contained credit cards.

Licking County Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information in connection to a burglary at a Newark home where several guns were taken.

The Newark Police Department reports that between April 2nd and April 3rd someone broke into a Dewey Avenue home and stole two shotguns, a revolver, and a rifle.

Licking County Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information on a theft that took place at a home in Newark.

Police report the theft occurred between March 27- 29 on Conley Avenue where hundreds of dollars worth of several tools were stolen from a shed.

Starting in the fall, students at the Newark Middle and High Schools will have to follow a dress code.

Monday  night, the Board of Education unanimously approved a new dress code for the 2010/2011 school year.

A natural gas leak caused some major problems in Newark Thursday.

It happened around 10 a.m.  near the BP Station at Mount Vernon Road and Deo Drive and forced evacuations in that area.

A knife fight on Newark's South Fifth Street sent one man to the hospital.

Newark Police Sergeant Dave Haren says the fight broke out around 2:50 a.m. Friday morning. He says it allegedy began after someone threw bricks or stones at a house. Around eight to twelve people saw the fight and two people were injured. One man was taken to Licking Memorial Hospital with a severe cut. Sergeant Haren says detectives are working the case, but no arrests have been made yet.

A Newark man accused of taking part in a fatal stabbing last August is found competent to stand trial.

According to court documents, a hearing took place in Licking County Common Pleas Court on Thursday where a ruling was made that 46-year-old William Withem is competent to stand trial.

Withem is charged with aggravated murder, murder and aggravated burglary in connection with the death of John Stouffer.
