It's looking as if the Northpointe slip repair project won't meet deadline and will be delayed in reopening.

Repairs are underway for a slip project at Northpointe Drive.

The Muskingum County Engineer's Office reports that construction crews are currently working on the largest slip. The slip sits on 45ft of mine spoil. So far, crews have done some have done some excavation work and digging out the slip area to put in drains to relieve the problem.

Your morning commute could be a head-ache starting Monday morning.

Beginning at 7 o'clock in the morning sections of Northpointe Drive will be closed. According to representative Kendra Scurlock of the contracting company R.F Scurlock both north and south bound lanes stretching from Richvale Road to the intersection of State Route 60 and Northpointe Drive in Dresden will be shut down.

The closing of the northbound lanes of Northpointe Drive in Muskingum County due to a slip is not only a headache for drivers, it has now become a safety concern.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office has received many complaints from drivers in the southbound lane saying northbound drivers are ignoring the closure where the slip occurred and are using the southbound lane causing near accidents with drivers. A portion of Northpointe Drive in Zanesville will be shut down while the Muskingum  County Engineer's Office assesses road damage.
 

Muskingum County Engineer Doug Davis says starting Friday at 12:00 p.m. the northbound lane of Northpointe Drive will be closed for an undetermined amount of time.
 

The closure will be between Richvale Road and Main Street in Dresden.
 

The southbound lane will remain open.
