Muskingum County can breath a sigh of relief when it comes to funding a local bridge project.

The county first believed that they would have to pay over $900,000 out of pocket to replace the Grant Cliff Bridge.

In a meeting Monday, with the Ohio Department of Transportation an agreement was reached where the county will pay up to $600,000 for the project.

Another storm is heading our way and ODOT trucks are ready to hit the roads.

Crews are all set to hit the highways and will stay out until the storm passes. Sixteen trucks will be out to handle whatever this storm will bring our way.

It looks like we are going to get our first real taste of winter and the Ohio Department of Transportation says it's ready to go.

ODOT Muskingum County manager Phil Valentine says the crews are ready to go. The salt bins are full and the plows are on standby.

Motorists should be aware of intermittent lane and ramp closures taking place on Interstate 70 in downtown Zanesville, Tuesday.

The closures are due to the bridge inspection to the Muskingum River Bridge. The following areas will be affected:

6th Street to I-70 on ramp

I-70 West off ramp to Maple Avenue

Maple Avenue to I-70 East on ramp

Commissioner Street to I-70 East on ramp

A portion of interstate 70 is shut down in Guernsey County following an accident.

The State Highway Patrol says the right lane of interstate 70 West just off interstate 77 is closed as crews work to clean up the scene.

Troopers say at 1:51 Tuesday morning semi truck driver Peter Evan Kobylarz went off the road and struck a tree. Patrol believes the crash was due to severe fog in the area.

Kobylarz was taken to Southeastern Ohio Medical Center for evaluation.

State troopers said three tractor trailers crashed and significantly damaged a highway bridge in Guernsey County, blocking westbound traffic near the intersection of two busy interstates.

The collision happened around 11p.m. Monday night on Interstate 70 near Cambridge, just west of where the high links to I-77. Trooper Kyle Shirer said that the crash occurred when one driver hit his brakes, lost control of his truck and jack knifed, blocking the bridge and creating significant damage...

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for our area, and that means the Ohio Department of Transportation has already been working to get ready for the snow that coming our way.

The Ohio Department of Transportation said Friday that water has closed a portion of roadway in Guernsey County.

State Route 146 is closed approximately four miles south of Pleasant City from the 4.3 mile marker to the 9.9 mile marker due to the high water.

The recommended detour is State Route 821 to State Route 672 to State Route 146. It's unknown when the roadway will reopen.

Muskingum County and the Ohio Department of Transportation continue to work on Northpointe Drive.

During Wednesday's Transportation Improvement District meeting the two sides traded information about the cost of the project. Because the work on Northpointe ran over the time frame set by the Federal government at least $75,000 must be paid by local funds. Final numbers for the project weren't available from ODOT. The county engineer plans to remedy that problem in the future.

State-wide discussion continues on who will be responsible to pay for road damage caused by upcoming shale drilling.

Ohio is trying to reach an agreement with drilling companies so they'll pay for any damage caused by the heavy equipment needed to extract oil and gas from shale rock. President of Meigs and Muskingum Township Associations Stephen Bradley said Anadarko Petroleum Corporation- the drilling company responsible for Muskingum County- has agreed to take care of the cost.
