The Ohio Department of Transportation said crews will soon hit the roadways in preparation of the next blast of winter weather heading our way. 

At Midnight February 1 ODOT District 5 said crews will report to work 12-hour shifts throughout the duration of the storm.

We're starting our Friday off with snowy conditions around Southeastern Ohio.

The Ohio Department of Transportation said many road crews are out Monday battling the snow falling around our area. 

The Coshocton County ODOT garage reports that three inches of snow has fallen so far. Muskingum County's Garage reports 3 inches of snow as of 7:30 Monday morning

More than 100 snowplows took to the streets Sunday night to battle freezing rain in our area. 

The Ohio Department of Transportation said crews used salt mixed with calcium chloride to treat the highways and bridges. ODOT said salt that has been treated with calcium is more effective at melting ice than salt alone. In fact the mixture is effective up to -25 degrees.

Snow is currently falling around Southeastern Ohio and that's put some counties in our area under snow emergencies. 

Under a level one snow emergency:

  • Muskingum
  • Perry 
  • Guernsey
  • Coshocton

A level one snow emergency means roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow and you should drive with caution.

Motorists traveling State Route 555 will need to seek an alternate route next week. 

The Ohio Department of Transportation said the roadway will close from State Route 669 to Morning Star Road during daytime hours for tree trimming in Muskingum and Morgan counties. 

The work will take place until Friday, December 12. 

Motorists will detour via State Route 669 to State Route 60 to State Route 555.

 Southeastern Ohio is preparing for what could be a messy commute Monday morning as the threat of snow is in the forecast. 

The Ohio Department of Transportation District 5, which covers Muskingum County, has plans to have 83 plows on the roadways by 1:00am Monday. 

They ask that with the threat of snow you take it slow on your commute and leave plenty of room between your vehicles and the plows.

The Ohio Department of Transportation announced multiple projects it is undergoing this week in Muskingum County. 

Starting Monday October 27, multiple ramps will be closed on I-70 for bridge inspections. From 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The 6th Street on-ramp and Maple Ave./SR60N exit ramp will be closed. That is exit 153B.

Then from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Maple Ave./SR60S on-ramp and 5th Street exit ramp will be closed. That is exit 154. ODOT recommends using the State...
