The Ohio Department of Transportation announced Monday that State Route 208 just outside of Adamsville will be closed for several days.

Officials say crews will be constructing a roadside improvement project Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting.

ODOT reminds motorist to slow down for the "Cone Zone" , turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones.

It's the first of December and it is also the first snowfall here in the Y-city.

But obviously with the flakes comes freezing temperatures which means one thing. O-dot is out in full force making sure area roads, bridges, and overpasses are properly treated.

"The first snowstorm typically is the worst with accidents because of motorists forgetting how they developed and how to drive in the winter storms," says ODOT Public Information Officer Kate Stickle.

Governor Elect John Kasich spent time in Licking County Tuesday to announce appointment of his nominee for Director of the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The largest construction season in the history of the state is wrapping up.

$2 billion was invested into 1,600 Ohio projects, including interstate repairs, resurfacing, and bridge and culvert replacements.

The season may have just changed to fall, but ODOT is already hunkering down for winter's fury.

Crews are checking over 1,700 snow plows across the state and other pieces of equipment to make sure they can handle the snow and maintain 40,000 miles of state highways.

There have been multiple accidents along Interstate 70 over the past few months that have completely shut down the heavily traveled roadway.

ODOT says it has been looking into what may be causing the crashes, and so far, the staff hasn't reached a conclusion.

The Ohio Department of Transportation will have crews working in both Perry and Guernsey counties in the coming weeks.

State Route 83 will close this Tuesday, September 28th, near Claysville, for two weeks. Workers will focus on a slip repair. Drivers are asked to use State Route 313 to State Route 146, which will take them around the construction and back onto State Route 83.

The Ohio Department of Transportation announced Tuesday that State Route 83 in Guernsey County will be closing for a slip repair.

Officials say work will begin Tuesday, September 28 on State Route 83 at the 4.3 mile marker, 3 miles South of State Route 313.

ODOT says weather permitting S.R. 83 will re-open Tuesday October 12.

The suggested detour is State Route 313 to State Route 146 to State Route 83.
