The U.S. Department of Defense announced Sunday that around 130 soldiers from the Ohio National Guard could deploy to West Africa next spring. Those soldiers will be from the 16th Engineer Brigade. The unit specializes in overseeing construction operations and could be used to help in the construction of clinics to treat Ebola patients.

People put their golf skills to work for a good cause Sunday...

Fuller's Fairways hosted the 4th annual 4-Man Golf Scramble. The event is put on by a veteran's group, and it raises money for soldiers of the 2nd and 174th Ohio National Guard Unit in McConnelsville.

A project that began in area schools is now asking the community to get involved.

This week marks Americorps Service week. Locally, the Americorps College Guides created a project to help our troops. They along with students have collected items to be sent to the Ohio National Guard Troop currently serving in Afghanistan.

The idea for the project was inspired by their supervisor who's husband is currently serving.

The community gathered at Secrest Auditorium in Zanesville Sunday  to recognize members of the Ohio National Guard in their Operation Enduring Freedom.

The 42 Airmen from the 220th Engineering Installation Squadron returned home from a 6 month tour of Afghanistan in May. Today served as a formal recognition of both their sacrifices and the ones of their families.

The Ohio National Guard Base in Zanesville is getting a facility upgrade.

A ground breaking ceremony was held at the 220th Engineering Installation Squadron Monday morning. The Ohio National Guard is getting a new facility. Congressman Zack Space said they really needed the new building.
