Yet another frigid day has caused schools to cancel school once again.

While usually that would just mean another make up day, closings last week and this week mean a delay in state testing. The state board of education announced this week that schools can have extra days to complete the testing. Halle Randles at Zanesville City Schools said this will help the students.

Governor Kasich released his proposed budget for the next two fiscal years this week. In it, is a proposed funding plan for state education.

Doctor Richard Ross, the state superintendent of public instruction, made his first stop to discuss the budget in Zanesville Tuesday. It will allocate $700 million to statewide education. That's in both traditional public schools and public charter schools.

The 2012 Candidates Forum was held at the John McIntire Library in Zanesville Sunday.

The 9th District of the Ohio State Board of Education includes voters from thirteen counties, including Muskingum County. Sunday afternoon the three candidates fighting for the seat had an opportunity to share their platform with the public.
