 Icy road conditions are to blame for two separate accidents on Interstate 70 Sunday evening.

The accident occurred in the westbound lanes near the 136 mile marker. We spoke to trooper Drew Untied of the Granville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol who told us how the cars ended up on the side of the highway.

The Zanesville Post of the Highay Patrol is investigating a two car accident that left one on its side.

It happened just after 3:30PM Tuesday afternoon near 2005 Chandlersville Road. Trooper Troy Hale told us how the accident occurred.

"Both vehicles were traveling eastbound on 146. The truck was in the turning lane. The black car was on his right proceeding in the eastbound lane. When he realized he needed to get into the turning lane too, he went over and clipped the truck...

A five car injury accident occurred on eastbound Interstate 70 near mile marker 146 Monday evening.

The call for the accident came at about 9:30. We spoke to Kevin Kelley, Sergeant of the Ohio State Highway Patrol who told us how the crash happened.

"There was a vehicle. It was a full sized passenger van. It was hauling a trailer. It was going westbound on 70 and lost control--what he described as black ice....As he was going across the median, several cars going eastbound...

A multi-car accident occurred on Interstate 70 Westbound just before Gratiot Saturday evening.

Rich Lanning, Trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol says white out conditions and vehicles spinning out were to blame. Lanning told us the number of vehicles involved is uncertain.

"We really don't know how many vehicles were involved. 11 of them were here that I handled the crash with but evidently there were several vehicles that left the scene."

A driver running from authorities flipped his car earlier Tuesday evening in front of Zane State College.

The incident happened around 6:08 p.m. as an officer from the Zanesville Police Deparmtent attempted to pull over a driver with expired plates. Police said they had been watching the vehicle and attempted to pull it over as it left a residence. The driver did not comply with officers and began to flee out of town toward Dillon State Park on State Route 146.

A decade old law aims to get drivers to slow down.

The "Move Over Law" requires drivers to move over for vehicles that are stopped, with flashing or rotating lights, on the side of the road. Lieutenant Matt Boyd with the Ohio State Highway Patrol called the law common sense. He said it's a way to keep people safe who need to stop on the side of the road.

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized $80,000 worth of marijuana in Muskingum County Monday. 

Troopers stopped a 2014 Nissan Sentra on Interstate 70 near milepost 155 on December 22. The car was pulled over for following too closely and traffic control device violations. The Superintendent of the Ohio State Highway Patrol made a stop in Zanesville Tuesday.

He spoke to the Noon Rotary Club about keeping the roads safe and partnering with other law enforcement to do so. Last year on Ohio's roads there were 990 fatalities. While that number seems high, Colonel Paul Pride said it is the lowest the number has ever been.
