The Superintendent of the Ohio State Highway Patrol made a stop in Zanesville Tuesday.

He spoke to the Noon Rotary Club about keeping the roads safe and partnering with other law enforcement to do so. Last year on Ohio's roads there were 990 fatalities. While that number seems high, Colonel Paul Pride said it is the lowest the number has ever been.

The Zanesville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol has announced its trooper of the year.

Trooper Sam Hendricks received the award this year. He came to the Zanesville post just a year ago. This is the first time he's been selected at the post. However, he has gotten this award at other posts, but he said it's still a humbling experience for him.

According to the Perry County Sheriffs Office, the Courthouse received a bomb threat Wednesday afternoon.

The call came on the non emergency line shortly after 12PM Wednesday saying that there was a bomb in the Courthouse. The building was evacuated for 2 1/2 hours as the State Fire Marshals K-9 unit searched the perimeter. The Sheriff's Department is unsure of where the call originated from but are working to find the caller. This is the second bomb threat out of Perry County this...

A two vehicle accident occurred on Pinkerton Road Friday afternoon.

The call for the collision came in shortly before 3PM Friday. It closed the road at the scene for around 25 minutes. The injuries sustained to the individuals in the crash were minor, and no transportations were needed. Trooper Todd Henry of the Ohio State Highway Patrol explains what happened.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a one-car injury accident just after 5 P.M. Sunday evening.

The accident occurred on the east-bound on ramp at mile marker 160 off interstate 70. According to the state patrol the vehicle was headed south bound when it attempted to make a left turn and veered off the right side of the road when it struck the guardrail and came to a stop. The victim was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital. We will keep you posted as more information...

An accident occurred on I-70 involving a pick-up truck and a semi near the 151 mile marker.

The accident occurred around 6:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. The Ohio State Highway Patrol and Falls Township EMS responded to the scene. Trooper Troy Hale explained the accident.

"Both units, a semi and a pickup truck were traveling westbound on I-70, and for no apparent reason the blue pickup truck rear-ended the semi" said Hale.

 The State Highway Patrol responded to a single car injury accident near the 2700 block of Ridge Road Sunday afternoon.

State Trooper Lanning says that a car veered off the left side of the road, stuck a telephone pole and overturned multiple times, eventually landing upright in the center of the road. Two cars were involved in an injury accident this afternoon at the corner of State Route 60 and Lawhead Lane.

The State Highway Patrol, Wayne Township Fire Department and the Newton Township EMS responded to the scene. A blue Nissan Rouge and a green Pontiac Gran Prix collided shortly before noon. Sergeant Chuck Merryman with the State Highway Patrol detailed the events.

And a car flipped into a creek on State Route 146 Saturday evening.

The accident occurred just before 5PM closing route 146 for a period of time. The road was re-opened to one lane at 5:45PM. Trooper William Duerson of the State Highway Patrol told us what happened.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol in conjunction with the Coshocton County Sheriff's office announced that there will be an OVI checkpoint tonight. 

The checkpoint will be on Chestnut Street in Coshocton County from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. A statement from the State Highway patrol stated that  the checkpoint will also be held in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols to aggressively combat alcohol-related injury and fatal crashes.
