Being in Ohio, you've no doubt noticed the sleek, silver Dodge Chargers driven by state troopers with the Ohio Highway Patrol.  Now, the rest of the country is getting to have a look at them as well.

An online contest was recently held by the American Association of State Troopers to select the nation's best looking cruiser.  When the final votes were tallied on Facebook, Ohio came out on top with nearly 22,000 "likes" of the buckeye state's patrol car.

The State Highway Patrol had a busy weekend. The Fourth of July celebrations brought 749 arrests due to OVI's, state wide. The holiday weekend lasted from last Thursday, July 3, until Sunday July 6.

Locally there were a total of 447 citations issued including 5 OVI's and 72 seatbelt violations. Lieutenant Matt Boyd of the State Highway Patrol said they pay special attention to those unbuckled during heavy traffic.

The Granville Post of the State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a motorcycle accident that resulted in the death of 73-year-old Richard H. Webster of Johnstown Saturday evening.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced today that an OVI checkpoint will be taking place in Muskingum County Friday, June 20.

The Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department has received a $42,000 grant from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The Muskingum County Sheriffs Office applied for the grant based on the number of fatal crashes on local roads as well as the number of partnerships within our community. Between 2011 and 2013 there were 30 fatal crashes in Muskingum county as well as 127 serious injury cases.

The number of traffic fatalities in the state hit a record low for 2013, but the State Highway Patrol reports that there were three fatalities to start off the new year.

Two of the fatal crashes happened in Adams and Fayette counties, while the third occurred in Holmes County. According to the OSHP, none of the people killed were wearing a seatbelt. With the rise in accidents this time of year, the Ohio State Highway Patrol is urging drivers to pay attention and slow down.

Lieutenant Matt Boyd of the Zanesville Post, says traveling at an unsafe speed while the roads are bad is the number one cause of accidents during the winter months.

Seven teenagers walked away with minor injuries after two cars flipped over on Dresden Road near Powelson in separate incidents Tuesday afternoon.

A morning roll-over accident injured the two occupants of the vehicle and eventually sent the driver to a Columbus hospital by medflight.
