The Muskingum County Community Foundation hosted the Olaf and Olga Hanson scholarship award ceremony today.

This scholarship is based off Olaf and Olga Hanson, who were both retired school teachers. Both of them left money to promote early education majors in their later years of college. This year there were two students won the scholarship.

On Wednesday the Future Educators at OUZ distributed school supplies and winter weather accessories for students and teachers at John McIntire Elementary. Megan Moore, a student in the organization, says they've been collecting donations from both students and faculty, and from area businesses.

The Bobcats arguably had more to play for Tuesday, but the Golden Flashes went out strong in their final game this season. Ohio took a 6-3 lead, but Kent State outscored them in the final three quarters to win 44-13 at Peden Stadium.

The Bobcats (6-5, 3-4 MAC) postseason hopes took a major hit, but they are still alive for a bowl bid with a win next week against UMass at home. Kent State's (4-8, 3-5 MAC) season came to a close with their second straight victory.

Ohio University issued a crime alert following a rape.

A female student says on Saturday at 4 a.m. she was in the parking lot of Christ the King church at the corner of Mill and Stewart Streets when she was approached by a man with a large knife. The man forced her to walk to a small outbuilding where he raped her.

Ohio University is warning students to watch out for a man wanted in a sexual imposition case.

The suspect is a white male in his early 20's, approximately 6'0 tall weighing 150-160 pounds with short blonde hair. Authorities say he was wearing a grey fleece top with hood over a dark ball cap, blue jeans and black tennis shoes.

The Athens Police Department is issuing a warrant for the arrest of an Ohio University football player, who was allegedly involved in a weekend burglary and stabbing.

Officers were dispatched to the scene of the apparent burglary Sunday morning at 159 Mill Street. The victim's statement explained that an unknown man was standing in his bedroom late Saturday night. The victim shouted something to the suspect and startled him, causing the man to break through the home's glass door.
