The Muskingum County Dog Pound held its 1st outdoor 'Open House' Saturday with more than 20 canines up for grabs.

Dozens of area residents were out looking for a new furry four-legged friend.

It may have been a cold and foggy day outside Saturday but inside one local shelter it was warm and cuddly.

The Animal Shelter Society hosted its annual Open House. They had a wide range of deals and specials. Executive Director Jody Murray says some of the donations they receive will provide them with enough funds to stay active for half the year.

The Muskingum County Bureau of Motor Vehicles made a move to the south end of town a little over a year and half ago, and today they celebrated the new location.

The bureau hosted an open house that began this morning and ran until 5:00 p.m.  Deputy Registrar Kristine Smith said the open house was held to welcome in the community to this location and to help inform those who may not have recently visited the BMV that they have moved.

Members of the Zanesville Fire and Police departments worked together to host their annual open house.
