After being closed for nearly 7 weeks Operation Spirit in Zanesville celebrated their Grand Reopening.

With the ten year anniversary of September 11th upon us, you have the opportunity to help our troops.

Mona Taylor of Zanesville passed away Wednesday, August 31st. To commemorate her, family members, in connection with the Bryan-Snider Funeral Home have set up a donation box to support Operation Spirit.

It's moving day at an organization helping the troops.

Seventeen young volunteers took time out of their busy summer schedules to help Operation Spirit pack up the contents of a house used for storage. This is the first step in moving to a new location on Linden Avenue.

Operation Spirit will soon have a new home.

The Zanesville Military Support Ministry uses money raised to send care packages and other necessities to troops overseas. Director Melodie Pittman said their current location is in need of too many structural repairs and will eventually be torn down. Pittman has been at the Balls Lane location, near Wal-Mart for the past 3 years and said the ideas of moving was overwhelming.

It's Christmas in July for one Zanesville organization.

Thinking ahead to the Christmas holiday, Operation Spirit celebrated the 4th of July by raising money for Christmas care packages for troops overseas. The group held a drive-thru chicken dinner fundraiser. Director, Melodie Pittman aimed to sell more than 200 chicken dinners which would raise about  $1,800.

A local Boy Scout, with the mind-set to one day serve, is doing his part now to show his support for our troops.

Soldiers are being recognized this holiday season.

Operation Spirit of Zanesville is making sure no one is forgotten this Christmas; months have been spent gathering any items that troops might need that aren't readily available to them. From candy and books to simple holiday decorations, owner Melodie Pittman said it's all appreciated.

One organization is making sure our troops overseas have a happy holidays.

The volunteer's at Operation Spirit are having a hard time finding a free moment to take a break from packing up boxes to send to the troops. So far 170 boxes have been sent along with 260 stockings filled with goodies to help the troops have a great season.

Christmas may be the last thing on your mind, but in order to make sure troops overseas receive their care packages in time, a local organization is starting early, and they're asking for your help.

While often seen delivering cookies, today Girl Scouts were sending them further than normal.

Boxes of cookies were unloaded today at Operation Spirit, where they will then be shipped to troops overseas. Even at a young age, they know the importance of helping.
