Campus Safety Days at the Ohio University Zanesville and Zane State campus ended Tuesday afternoon with a female safety session.

For the second year, The Walk to End Alzheimer's came to Zanesville. This year the walk moved to the Ohio University Zanesville campus, but the new location didn't stop people from getting up and taking strides for the disease.

The American Cancer Society is hosting a walk at the OU Zanesville campus October 18th.

The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk aims to raise money for cancer research. The goal of the walk is to raise money to aid in research to cure the disease. WHIZ is the media sponsor for the event and we spoke to our own Sara Shallcross about the walk.

In 2012 Ohio passed a law banning texting while driving, but nearly two years later it remains a serious problem. Whiz's Courtney Wheaton tells us about the latest effort to drive home the message that texting while driving is unacceptable.

"It is reported that more than a hundred thousand accidents are caused due to texting and driving and on Thursday people learned how to decrease that number."

As part of the ongoing OUZ Zane State Public Safety Week, campus safety addressed students and staff about how to deal with an active killer situaton through ALICE  training.

It is mandatory for every employee on the OUZ campus to attend ALICE training at some point within their first year. Zane State has promoted it in classrooms and has even held open sessions.

The Zanesville Police Department Special Response Team spoke to students at OUZ and Zane State for Public Safety Week.

As part of the OUZ Zane State Public Safety week, Medflight 6 out of McConalsville made an appearance. Students attended the presentation to ask questions, learn about Medflight, the challenges of working in a critical emergency, as well as the experience needed to work in a mobile intensive care unit.
