Ohio University alumni met at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Zanesville to view the Bobcats first game of the season.

Many universities across the state are reporting enrollment numbers are up this year after many saw a dip last year.

Seventeen Ohio schools, including Ohio University Zanesville, switched from a quarter to semester schedule last fall and enrollment suffered, so this increase in student population is a welcomed change.

Since 2008, a local organization has helped kindergartners get prepared for the nearing school year and that tradition continued on Saturday.

Tuesday might have been a little humid and muggy, but it didn't stop people from getting outside and enjoying the sunshine.

The increase in violent events in schools and in public is the reason behind the ALICE Training Method. It's being taught to students, teachers, and now it can be taught to you.

Over 100 people walked the campus trail to raise money for March of Dimes, a national organization that focuses on preventing and treating babies that are born premature.

"Is to bring awareness to children that are born prematurely and it helps fund certain medications and other treatments for the babies that may be born prematurely here in the area," said Michele Shirer, Co-Logistics Chair for March of Dimes.

Educators and first responders get a look at a program that could change the outcome in the event of a school shooting.

Ohio University Zanesville and Zane State invite educators and law enforcement from Coshocton, Guernsey, Licking, Muskingum, Morgan, Noble and Perry Counties to ALICE training. ALICE stands for alert, lockdown, inform, counter and evacuate and is the leading way to deal with active shooters.
