The Muskingum County Commissioners are exploring options to save money on electricity costs.

Monday the Commissioners spoke with Gretchen Blazer of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and raised questions about the benefits and risks of entering into a contract for a fixed electrical rate for the county.

Commissioner Jerry Lavy said the county has received many offers from electric suppliers and entering into an agreement could save the county $8,400 per month.

One township in our area is about to save money on their electric bills.

In November, Perry Township passed a measure to allow the Muskingum County Commissioners to act as their aggregate to ensure better electric rates. Currently, those joining the program save 18% on the generation portion of their electric bills.

If you're an AEP customer, you might soon see a slight drop in your electric bill.

Palmer Energy, a company based out of Toledo, went in front of the Muskingum County Commissioners Monday to unveil an energy saving proposal for residents.

"It looks like from the bid or the quote they have so far, it's about a 3 percent savings on the generation portion of people's bills so about half of their bill would get about a three percent discount on the rate that's been negotiated so...
