Pancake Day this year will be special for some students at Zane Grey Intermediate School.

That's because Sertoma donated 100 tickets for students to get their own pancakes Wednesday. Math Coach Jodi Bainter took Pancake Day as an opportunity to have students in 4th through 6th grade learn about problem-solving.

Now that we're in the middle of November it means it's time for Pancake Day.

For the 54th year Sertoma is hosting its annual Pancake Day Wednesday at Secrest Auditorium. Starting at 6:00 a.m. workers will begin cooking the thousands of pancakes that co-chairman, Russell Taylor, said will be served.

The Zanesville Sertoma Club's 54th Annual Pancake Day started early Wednesday morning at Secrest Auditorium and by noon, over 2,000 people were served. Sertoma Club President Tom Downs says he's thankful to have such a supportive community.

It's all about pancakes today in downtown Zanesville.  The 50th annual Sertoma Pancake Day is taking place in the basement of Secrest Auditorium.  WHIZ's Ashley Drane has the sweet details of an event that raises a lot of money for the community.

Secretary of the club, Mike Maniaci, says it's all for the kids.

"I enjoy helping to make the community money and part of that goes to help Big Brothers, Big Sisters among other local youth groups," says Maniaci.

Local fire fighters donned their aprons Saturday to make breakfast for the community.

The perry township fire department pancake day is the department's only fundraiser. The tradition started back in the 19-60's and is now something the community looks forward too.
