During two brief meetings on Monday, the Muskingum County Commissioner's received bids from Neff Paving and Shelly and Sands to start construction on a few roads in the county that are in "poor condition."

"There was a bid opening today for 200 Willis Drive in the Village of South Zanesville and the commissioner's took those bids under advisement," said Muskingum County Community Development Director Sheila Samson.

A summer construction project nears its completion.

The Wayne Avenue sewer separation project began in May and city crews expect to finish the work mid week. The last work is being done at the intersection of Marietta Street. Zanesville's Public Service Director said for the most part the work ran smoothly.

The Muskingum County Commisioners held a bid opening on Monday for the 2011 Road Resurfacing Project.

The Shelly Company of Thornville and Shelly and Sands Inc. of Zanesville were the only two to submit bids. This is a part of a paving project and is divided into two sections.

This summer has been full of paving projects for the city of Zanesville.

It received money from the Community Development Formula Grant to pave some streets on the south end of town. It received $1 million in stimulus funding to pave Dryden, Ridge, and Dresden Roads along with Pershing Avenue. The city was also awarded $400,000 through Ohio Public Works for its latest project that will start Monday.

The Summer months provide the opportunity for many city improvements.

Tomorrow Zanesville will begin a two-month-long paving project. The project is funded completely through stimulus money and includes Ridge Avenue, Dryden, Pershing, and Dresden Roads.
