One person was taken by med-flight to Grant Medical Center in Columbus after a head on collision near 4480 State Route 37 in Perry County Wednesday evening.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one vehicle crash that happened Saturday night in Salt Lick Township.

Ohio's Attorney General announced a plan to address existing gaps in sexual assault services across Ohio and some of that money will come to Perry County.

Attorney General Mike DeWine said the formation of a Sexual Assault Services Expansion Program comes after a survey conducted by his office found that 59 percent of Ohio's counties do not have comprehensive, direct sexual assault services.

One of the biggest races in Perry County involved the race for sheriff. Incumbent William Barker fought off challenger Amy English who is the Junction City Police Chief.

Barker got 7,529 votes and English received 6,880. There were also three county commissioner seats up for grabs.  The winners were Ed Keister, Jim O'Brien and David Freriks.

Other winners included Timothy Wollenberg for clerk of court, Jackie Hoover for county recorder and Melisa Walter for Perry County...

Democratic candidates spent the day parading through communities in Perry County.

A trolley tour took them through Somerset, Thornville, Glenford, Mount Perry and surrounding towns.

Three Democratic groups sponsored the ride, and representatives say their objective was to take the campaign to the streets.

A sobriety checkpoint in Perry County resulted in the arrest of an impaired driver.

The State Highway Patrol along with the Crooksville Police Department and the Perry County Sheriff's Office conducted the checkpoint Friday night on State Route 93 just north of Flint Ridge Road.

The Patrol reports that contact was made with 216 motorists during the checkpoint with one impaired driver being arrested.

People in Perry County had an opportunity to get their questions about fracking answered.

The Perry County Landowner's Association hosted an informational meeting at the Somerset American Legion.  Executive Director of the Perry County Chamber of Commerce John Ulmer said the goal is to educate residents before the oil and gas industry makes its way to the area.

The results are in for the Perry County Commissioners races.

James O'Brien won the race for the Democrats, while Thad Cooperrider took the race for the Republicans. Ron Baker (R) won the race for County Treasurer, and will go against Democrat Melissa Walker in November. In the race for County Recorder, Democrat Jackie Hoover stood in the winners circle, and will face Republican Ashley Heavener.

A man was taken to the hospital by Medflight after being shot Monday by a Perry County Sheriff's Deputy.

The incident happened on Poplar Street in Junction City around 6 p.m. Monday evening.

The man, who is now identified as Dustin Dugan, was shot several times by a deputy and was transported to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He was later transferred to The Wexner Medical Center at the Ohio State University where he is listed in serious condition. The...

The Perry County Sheriff's Office says deputies discovered a meth lab Monday at a Crooksville home.

According to Sgt. Kevin Starrett, the lab was discovered at 9796 State Route 669. Authorities found the lab while assisting the Perry County Common Pleas Court Probation Department in the search for 46-year-old Keith Watts at the home.
