The Ohio Division of Wildlife said an animal footprint, found outside of Somerset on Sunday, did not belong to a lion.
The Perry County Sheriff's Office and Division of Wildlife officials investigated the report after receiving a call about a large unidentified footprint at a residence on township road 96.
Wildlife Communications Specialist, Lindsay Rist, said there was no evidence that the footprint belonged to a lion.

A Perry County Grand Jury has indicted two men in connection with a major mairjuana bust back in 2008.

The Perry County Sheriff's Office says 43-year-old Jose Guadalupe Lopez and 20-year-old Carlos Alvarado Martinez, both of Mexico ,are facing felony counts of cultivation of marijuana.

The charges stem from a bust in August of 2008 off of Harrison Township Road 208 near Crooksville.

Voters have elected write in candidate Darrel Lantz as the Mayor of Crooksville.

In the race for Mayor of New Lexington, Dale Eveland beat out Larry Rentschler by about 150 votes and in the race for Mayor of New Straitsville,David Brown is the winner over Susan Miller.

As for issues in Perry County, the Crooksville Municipal Park levy passed while the New Straitsville Parks and Recreation levy failed.

A local couple is changing the lives for many residents of Perry County.

The Perry County Sheriff’s Office says it hopes to release more information Tuesday about a fatal accident over the weekend. A man in Glenford was killed after he was hit by a tree limb that he was sawing. Investigators say it happened Saturday afternoon around 12:30. The name of the victim has not yet been released.

Two Perry County residents are facing charges after authorities discover a large marijuana growing operation inside a Corning home.

Perry County Sheriff's Sgt. Kevin Starrett says deputies along with the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force and the Corning Police Department seized more than 50 marijuana plants and hydroponic equipment from inside a residence at 167 Main Street around 8 a.m. Thursday.
