A new piece of equipment in Perry County will help emergency medical services and response times in the area.

The United States Department of Agriculture approved $56,000 to the county for the purchase of a Geographic Information System, which maps terrain.

The system will create a GIS Map of the area that can be used to help emergency dispatchers more accurately send out personnel.

State Route 37 in Perry County was shut down for more than an hour Wednesday night as crews investigated a fatal accident.

According to the Lancaster Post of the State Highway Patrol, the one-car accident happened shortly after 4:30 on State Route 37 west of Adcock Road.

Perry County voters said yes to three levies on the ballot Tuesday.

The Reading Township/Park Expenses levy as well as the Thorn East Local Option and the Thorn West Local Option levies all passed.

Democrat Lonnie Wood Senior is the winner in the County Commissioner race.

He defeated Todd Shafer by about 125 votes. As of now, Wood will run unopposed in the November Election.

40 vendors took part in the first Perry County Art Walk. There was something for everyone to enjoy, including photography, music, and artwork. An investigation leads to the arrest of five Perry County residents.

Perry County Sheriff's Sergeant Kevin Starrett says Friday morning just minutes after 3 the Perry County Sheriff's Office along with the New Lexington and Crooksville Police Departments served two search warrants in New Lexington, one at 320 East Water Street the other 647 Center Street.

Three people are arrested after a drug bust in Perry County.

According to the Perry County Sheriff's Office 45-year old Daniel Jacobs, 37-year old Dixie Owens and 43-year old Robert Carney all of New Lexington were arrested Friday after an investigation into the illegal trafficking of of morphine and marijuana.

The three are charged with various counts of trafficking in prescription drugs.

Bond is set at $25,000 for a Perry County woman whose facing a 2nd degree felony charge of felonious assault.

38-year-old Sabra Hilliard is accused of shooting Bill Wilson at a home on Cimmaron Road in Mount Perry Saturday afternoon.
