This afternoon, those trick or treaters eager for Halloween, were able to test out their costumes and get a head start on collecting some candy.

Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and National Road Elementary School held their annual Trunk or Treat event. Teachers and church members decorated the trunks of their cars from which they pass candy out to the little ones. Each year the congregation sees between 200 and 300 children line up to participate. Sunday's dreary weather didn't stop Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church from holding their 3rd annual "Trunk-or-Treat" event. Normally hosted outside with car trunks open and filled with candy, the event was moved inside to keeps kids safe and warm. In comparison to traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating, keeping kids warm isn't the only safety precaution "Trunk-or-Treat" has to offer.

A fear of Trick-or-Treating along busy road ways and visiting stranger's homes have moved one local church to sponsor "Trunk-or-Treat."

A time when cars lined the parking lot of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Zanesville and hand out candy form their trunks.

"I like for them to be safe and any longer going house-to-house isn't always safe," said Church Member Carol Willey. "Here we know their safe and having a good time...
