The United States Postal Service has decided to stop mail processing in Zanesville. Columbus District Manager Joshua Colin says local processing will be consolidated into the Columbus Processing and Distribution Center. This decision will affect 11 employees who will be moved to the Columbus facility. Snow and icy conditions can pose health hazards to your local mail carrier.

Zanesville Postmaster Steve Williams says the postal service is asking customers to help keep paths free of snow and ice for the safe delivery of mail.  Injuries of carriers increase during winter months, which in turn, take their toll on employees.

The US Postal Service is attempting to make deliveries, but a spokesperson says deliveries can only be made to areas that are safe and passable.

Post offices could not open and deliveries could not be made in the following zip code service areas: 430, 431, 433, 437, 438, 456, and 457.

Starting November 16,  you may notice some changes when it comes to how your mail is delivered.

The Postal Service announced Monday that residents in Zanesville, Barnesville, Byesville and Roseville may have a new mail carrier or see a change in the time their mail is delivered.

Those four offices have reviewed and changed their routes in order to make them more efficient, due to rising costs.
