A transformer fire left some residents without electric service early Monday morning.  The fire took place just after 3:00 am.  American Electric Power reports that 820 customers in the area of Dietz Lane were without power.  A-E-P says power was restored just before 6:00 am Monday morning.

American Electric Power reports that just before 12:00 p.m. Thursday power had been restored to customers east of Zanesville and the west end of Cambridge.

Officials say an animal got into the Bridgeville substation and took out a circuit.

Perry Elementary School was also affected by the outage but classes continued.

Some Muskingum County Residents are without electricity today (Thursday) . American Electric Power says 1200 customers are without service in the Zanesville area and eastern Muskingum County. A-E-P says there is no word yet on what caused the problem. But A-E-P says there was a failure at the Bridgeville Sub-station.  Perry Elementary School  at 6975 East Pike is also affected by the power outage, but classes are continuing. Service should be restored...

The big storm knocked out power to just about every county it passed through on Tuesday. In our area here are the updated numbers from American Electric Power.....In Muskingum County 1400 customers are without electricity.…In Licking County it‘s just over 1880..in Guernsey County 831…Perry County 542…Coshocton County 517…Morgan County 335 and in Noble County 277 customers are without service. More than 550 Zanesville American Electric Power Customers lost power Monday night.  According to Tim Wells, a spokesman with AEP, there was a pole fire around 10 p.m on Adair Avenue near the intersection of Blue Avenue. The Zanesville Police Department says the fire caused a transformer to fall and ignite part of the woods near Cedar Hill. A.E.P crews are on scene and they have no time table yet as to when power will be restored.

Some east-end Zanesville residents spent part of Friday in the dark after a power outage. It happened on Wheeler Road off Sharon Avenue and also knocked out power to WHIZ Radio and TV.

"I heard a crack, and I was in the kitchen putting groceries away, the first thing I thought about was that it was one in the backyard off the hill, because I had one fall," said Loma Travis, Resident of Wheeler Road.

At around 9:30 a.m., the Zanesville Fire Department responded to a 911...

WHIZ T-V on Time Warner Cable  and  WHIZ Radio A-M 1240 and 92.7 are back on the air after a tree fell Friday morning and ripped down power lines. Whiz T-V is currenlty not availble on Time Warner Digital, Direct T-V and Dish.   Service was cut for around one hour. It happened around 10:15 on Wheeler Road off Sharon Avenue. Reports from the scene indicate a large tree fell and knocked down power lines which cut service to the Whiz Media Group and residents...

A power outage has knocked Whiz T-V and 92.7 Whiz F-M radio off the air and residents in the Wheeler Road Area are without power. Initial reports indicate that a tree fell knocking down power lines which are blocking Wheeler Road. The Zanesville Fire Department is on the scene trying to clear away the tree. American Electric Power has also been called to the scene. No injuries are reported. No word yet when service will be restored.

The severe thunderstorms that ripped through our area and the rest of Ohio are still being felt on Thursday. Here are the latest power outage numbers from our region. A power outage forced both Zane State College and Ohio University Zanesville to suspend classes until noon today. The power has now been restored. It happened this morning and affected over 2600 American Electric Power customers. An A-E-P spokesman says a squirrel got into a sub-station and caused the disruption of power. Everything now is back to normal. Both schools will resume classes starting at 12 noon today (Wednesday)
