The Energy Cooperative has three line crews out and is working 2,688 widely scattered outages. 1,948 of those outages are in the Pataskala/Beechwood and 512 outages are in the Loudonville area.

Downed powerlines can be extremely dangerous. Please consider all power lines to be energized. To avoid serious injury or even death stay clear of all downed power lines. Keep others, including your pets, away from the line. Do not try to touch, move or repair a downed power line.

It's dark.. It's cold... and that's inside your house. If that happens, the Muskingum Valley Red Cross has some tips to help you if an ice or snow storm knocks out your power. First, try to stay warm by adding extra clothing.  

The Red Cross suggests always having bread and peanut butter in your home. It may not be a home cooked meal at least you will have something to eat.  When it comes to trying to cook a real meal you may need to be creative.

Due to power outages at Ohio University Zanesville and Zane State, both campuses will be shut down at 4:30 p.m. for the remainder of Monday. Classes will resume tomorrow morning.

The board meeting scheduled for tonight will be moved to the Welcome Center.

The Willett Pratt campus in Cambridge is still open.

American Electric Power is making progress in dealing with a power outage in three counties that totaled 4000 customers. As of 11:55 Monday morning only 512 Muskingum County customers and 403 Perry County customers were still without power. All Morgan county customers have had their power restored. American Electric Power says three area counties are dealing with power outages today…Perry County, Morgan County and Muskingum County . A-E-P says a major power outage has occurred at the Crooksville sub-station and that has knocked out the whole village of Crooksville and some customers in Roseville and in Morgan County. A transformer fire left some residents without electric service early Monday morning.  The fire took place just after 3:00 am.  American Electric Power reports that 820 customers in the area of Dietz Lane were without power.  A-E-P says power was restored just before 6:00 am Monday morning.

American Electric Power reports that just before 12:00 p.m. Thursday power had been restored to customers east of Zanesville and the west end of Cambridge.

Officials say an animal got into the Bridgeville substation and took out a circuit.

Perry Elementary School was also affected by the outage but classes continued.

Some Muskingum County Residents are without electricity today (Thursday) . American Electric Power says 1200 customers are without service in the Zanesville area and eastern Muskingum County. A-E-P says there is no word yet on what caused the problem. But A-E-P says there was a failure at the Bridgeville Sub-station.  Perry Elementary School  at 6975 East Pike is also affected by the power outage, but classes are continuing. Service should be restored...

The big storm knocked out power to just about every county it passed through on Tuesday. In our area here are the updated numbers from American Electric Power.....In Muskingum County 1400 customers are without electricity.…In Licking County it‘s just over 1880..in Guernsey County 831…Perry County 542…Coshocton County 517…Morgan County 335 and in Noble County 277 customers are without service. More than 550 Zanesville American Electric Power Customers lost power Monday night.  According to Tim Wells, a spokesman with AEP, there was a pole fire around 10 p.m on Adair Avenue near the intersection of Blue Avenue. The Zanesville Police Department says the fire caused a transformer to fall and ignite part of the woods near Cedar Hill. A.E.P crews are on scene and they have no time table yet as to when power will be restored.
