Heartbeats is a non-profit life-affirming pregnancy center. They offer free services like pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, counseling, and a 30-day supply of prenatal vitamins for women who get a positive pregnancy test. The bikers brought nearly one hundred bottles full of money to their weekly "hang-around" before their church service on Saturday.

"This is one way that we raise funds since all of our services are free. This pays for our services which is the ultrasound...

When expectant parents near their due date it's important they have everything ready to go for their baby, including the family car.

Getting your vehicle ready for a newborn starts with making sure you have an infant car seat that's not recalled or expired.

"A car seat can expire after about six years just from the wear and tear from being in a car and the different cooling and warming
temperatures," says Jenni Masterson, Carr Center child passenger safety...

I'm officially 38 weeks pregnant. The baby is considered “full-term” at 37 weeks, though your due date is set for 40 weeks. So now it's just a waiting game to see when Grant will decide to make his arrival. My due date is December 29th. Dr. Aepli says that he doesn't want me going past my due date because of my health condition, so we may have to look toward induction if the baby does not arrive by then on his own.

On Wednesday I had an ultrasound- hopefully my last. It...

"I think probably the bag be prepared about six weeks before delivery. Just have it in a safe place in the house where you know it's going to be," says Dr. Robert Aepli, OB/GYN.

Once you go into labor there may not be time to pack for the hospital, so it's important to get prepared ahead of time. But what should you pack?

"It's nice to bring an extra pair of clothes that you'll want to wear home. If you have some comfortable pajamas that you like or a robe,"...

There are numerous benefits to breastfeeding.

"Of course mothers enjoy the fact that they lose a little weight quicker, which is wonderful. And the milk for the baby that the mother is providing is going to give the baby a lot of immunities which will protect them as they go on and meet and greet the world," says Ellen Morin, Certified Lactation Consultant.

If you choose to breastfeed, you can start taking classes before the childs even born.

"It's always...

What's supposed to be a joyous time is not for some.

"Pregnancy is a very stressful time and a lot of individuals will develop some depression during the pregnancy," says Dr. Robert Aepli, OB/GYN.

A history of depression in yourself or your family and other factors could bring on depression in pregnancy.

"If they've gone through some fertility treatments and stuff to get pregnant, there's been a miscarriage before during pregnancy, if
there's just kind...

Even if your planning a natural birth, you should do your homework ahead of time on pain management options, just in case.

"Almost everyone uses some kind of pain killer or analgesic during labor. And that can consist of either a narcotic that's given through the IV tubing or an epidural," says Dr. Robert Aepli, OB/GYN.

Pain killers given through an IV will also go into the baby's blood stream.

"Narcotics will depress respirations in the newborn. So the...

Finally a test done at the doctor's office that reveals nothing but good news!

I had an ultrasound done on Wednesday. I'm exactly 34 weeks pregnant. The ultrasound revealed that little Grant is 5 pounds right now. He also already has hair! He has dropped into position and is getting ready for birth. The best news of it all was that my subchorionic hemorrhage was no where to be found! It seems as though it may have healed up. So things are looking up in the Mills household!

5-year-old Rusty was dropped off at the Muskingum County Animal Shelter when his family got a new baby. It happens to animals time and time again.

"What we see a lot of is we get people that come in and they say the wife is getting ready to have a baby they're afraid to have the animal in the house around the new baby, so they bring them in and they surrender them to the shelter," says Larry Hostetler, Animal Shelter executive director.

It's a sad scene that Hostetler...

Last year Genesis Bethesda was the birthplace for 1,356 area babies and this year they may welcome even more new additions.

"Right now we are nine deliveries above where we were this time last year and about 25 some out-patients above where we were last year so we're very busy," says Melissa Montgomery, Director of Women's and Children's Services.

Bethesda's second floor has 12 labor-and-delivery and 19 post-partum rooms for moms. There's also 24 spots for babies in the...
