 It's springtime and while everyone is spring cleaning, why not spring clean your medicine cabinet.

This Saturday is 'National Drug Take Back Day' and from 10 a.m until 2 p.m South Zanesville Riesbeck's Pharmacy is giving the public it's 11th opportunity in six years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs.

Drug addiction, particularly with heroin and prescription opioids, has been rapidly on the rise since the 1990s.

The Coalition for Healthy and Drug-Free Muskingum discussed their ideas and initiatives during their hour and a half meeting Thursday morning. The discussion focused on what drugs are most prevalent in Muskingum County, how it's affecting people and what they are doing to stop it from happening.

the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office executes a search warrant at a Sally Road home.

Tuesday morning, deputies along with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy issued a search warrant at 100 Sally Road.

A Roseville man charged with 13 felony counts of trafficking and possession of prescription drugs was arraigned in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court Wednesday.

43-year-old Larry Bennett plead not guilty to the charges which also carry a school specification.

Authorities are gearing up for National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says prescription drug use is a growing problem in our area.

"It's more readily available. You can obtain it without going on the street and making buys from people that you don't know. A lot of family members will steal from each other, " says Sheriff Lutz.

These presciption drugs can pose major health problems and even result in death.
