For the past 15 years the Putnam Underground Railroad Education Center or PURE has gathered at the Lincoln Luncheon to celebrate the end of slavery in our country.

The luncheon helps to raise money for the PURE Center to be able to accomplish its many goals. PURE's President, Liesta Walker, said the center's goal is to educate people about the history of slavery and the role Zanesville played in it.

The 14th Annual Lincoln Luncheon commemorated the birthday's of President Abraham Lincoln and the late Dr. Harley Flack, a Zanesville native who was the fourth president of Wright State University. The luncheon, which was held at the Zanesville Country Club, also served as a fundraiser for the PURE Center. President of the PURE Center, Liesta Walker, called the luncheon a "true community event."

The 14th Annual PURE Center Lincoln Luncheon is coming up and members are inviting you to come and join in the festivities.

The event is a celebration of President Abraham Lincoln's birthday as well as one of the largest fundraisers for the Putnam Underground Railroad Education Center. The Lincoln Luncheon brought out many members of the community for its thirteenth year.

Zanesville is celebrating Black History month...

The Putnam Underground Railroad Educational Center is hosting a series of programs in February to recognize the Y-city's involvement in black history. Chairperson Kathy Brantley said she hopes residents are informed of lesser known facts about African-Americans in Zanesville.

One woman is bringing the past to the present for Black History Month.
