The Muskingum County Pioneer and Historical Society held its annual Putnam Holiday Open House today .

The Historical Society encourages everyone to come out and learn more about the history of Putnam. Five historic homes will be open for the public tomorrow, and many will feature special musical guests.

Those from Putnam, both young and old, turned out Saturday to celebrate being a Putnam Hunkie.

The second Putnam Hunkie Reunion was held from noon to 4:00 p.m. Saturday at the VFW in Putnam. The "Hunkie" name originated from the large Hungarian population who lived and worked in the area in the early 1900s, and the name has stuck ever since. If you have ties to the Putnam area, you are invited to the second annual Putnam Hunkie Reunion this weekend.

Last year's reunion drew nearly 500 people, and they hope to have even more show up this year to celebrate old friendships, and of course, being a Hunkie.

The City of Zanesville makes plans to shut off water to some of its customers Wednesday, December 18.

Water Superintendent Paul Mills said Underground Utilities Solutions will be lowering a water main for the City of Zanesville for a sewer project on Lincoln Street.

The work will begin at 8a.m. and be completed by 3:30p.m.

During the work the following areas will be without water.

The Stone Academy Historic Site and Museum is temporarily displaying historical photos and artifacts that were displayed at the John McIntire Library during last months 100 year commemoration.

Two people were taken to the hospital after an accident Wednesday afternoon.

Zanesville Police say Amanda Kildow the driver of the Toyota Rav Four pulled out of the stop sign and struck the Jeep Wrangler driven by Eric Cassady around noon.

Moxahala Avenue was shut down for about 30 minutes as first responders handled the accident.
